There are types such as cutter suction dredgers and trailing suction dredgers. The smooth flow of rivers depends entirely on dredgers.

The task of dredgers is to carry out underwater earthwork construction, specifically: deepening, widening and clearing existing waterways and ports; excavating new waterways, ports and canals; dredging the foundation trenches of docks, docks, locks and other hydraulic structures, and throwing the excavated silt into the deep sea or blowing it into land depressions to create farmland. It is a powerful tool for blowing sand and filling the sea.


The cutter suction dredger is a type of ship widely used in dredging projects. It uses a rotating reamer device installed around the front end of the suction pipe to cut and stir the riverbed silt, and then transports the slurry material to the silt material storage site through the suction pipe with the help of a strong pump force. Its dredging, mud transportation, mud unloading and other work processes can be completed continuously at one time. It is a dredger with high efficiency and low cost, and is a good underwater excavation machinery.

The total length refers to the sum of the hull length plus the extended length of the cutter suction frame. The dredging pump is directly driven by the main engine, and the reamer head is driven by a motor or hydraulic mechanism. Assuming that the dredging efficiency is 30% of the displacement weight, according to Archimedes' principle, the theoretical suction depth of a single-stage dredging pump is 0M, but it does not exceed 28M. To further absorb, an intermediate relay pump must be added. The relay pump does not require a high pressure head. Although it has the same displacement weight as the dredging pump, the power can be greatly reduced, so the relay pump is generally powered by an underwater high-voltage motor or hydraulic mechanism.
